AI, this abbreviation can be found in almost every area of daily life today, whether you are simply reading an article, using your mobile phone to help you with a search or query, having food served in some restaurants, or communicating with your own chatbot on a website, in an app or in your own company. The use of AI is a diverse and certainly long-lasting story… but today, what is important… for almost everyone who runs a business and offers services or products.
Companies and services/offers seen through the eyes of AI
Regardless of what one thinks about developments in this area, one thing is certain: more and more people are ‘consulting’ AI to obtain information about a company or the services/products it offers. Those who are not found here (i.e. not suggested by AI) or, worse still, are listed with incorrect information, will lose potential customers in the short term and, above all, in the long term.
ChatCPT from OpenAI is well known, of course, but Google (with Gemini) also has its own AI. Every modern mobile phone now has AI functions, and AI (Copilot) is becoming increasingly common even in software such as the Microsoft Office package.
And briefly, our personal assessment: In our opinion, much of the information provided by AI is ‘bad’. But for this very reason, it already makes sense to know what suggestions and answers customers and potential customers receive from AI. One thing is certain… AI evaluates completely differently than a traditional search engine
With a search engine, ‘you are found’. In the best case scenario, you will be found on the first page, or possibly on page 2 or further back. SEO is the magic word here, which stands for Search Engine Optimisation. This involves trying to ‘tastefully prepare’ your offer or your company for a search engine in line with the selected search term… in the hope of achieving a better ranking and more hits/customers/success.
However, AI sees the whole picture as much more complex. It attempts to generate the one optimal result for the query from a multitude of information. Users’ questions are also becoming much more complex, but also more meaningful. Whereas in the past, you would simply search for ‘Mustermann GmbH’ in a search engine and then read through the list of results from website to website… today, you simply ask the question ‘Is Mustermann GmbH reputable?’. This is a good development in itself (just try it with our company on ChatCPT, for example: ‘Is Red Frog Agentie SRL reputable?’ 😊), because it allows customers to better protect themselves against fakes and fraud. But what can you do if the AI is incomplete or, worse still, incorrectly informed and simply passes on this partial ‘knowledge’? This can quickly lead to a loss of customers and orders without you really knowing why!
